Four signals that are hard to game. Each is visible on the hotel card — we don’t hide the formula.
Review freshness
Weighted by date: recent guest experiences count more than old ones. A review from last week isn’t the same as one from three years ago.
Category dip
If one category clearly lags behind the rest, the index honestly drops — even with a high average score.
Trend
We compare recent reviews with older ones. If quality is slipping, the index reflects that instead of smoothing it over.
Trust index — a separate number
Right next to the index: a second 0–100 number — whether these reviews can be trusted. It isn't tied to the score itself, so it doesn't move in lockstep with the platform.
